Okhotsk Snow Sheep

Okhotsk Snow Sheep inhabit the mountainous terrains of the Khabarovsk region of Russia.

Hunters will find excellent populations of Snow Sheep in this area. The average size of Okhkotsk Snow Sheep ranges from 34 - 35 inches with rams measuring 40 inches occasionally taken in this region.  The sheep are generally found at elevations ranging between 4,000 to 5,000 feet and you should plan on some mount hiking for this trophy hunt.

Getting to the Hunting Area

You will fly into Moscow and upon arrival you will be met by ProfiHunt’s representative who will assist you in the customs formalities.  Depending on your arrival time, you may overnight in Moscow at a hotel, or fly on to Khabarovsk where you will spend the night in a hotel.  The flight from Moscow to Khabarovsk is a 7 hour flight.

In the morning you will fly from Khabarovsk to Okhotsk, on a commercial flight which takes about 3 hours. You will then be chartered into the camp by a helicopter on a flight between one and two hours depending on the area you will be hunting in.

Hunting Camps

The camps are modern windproof tents and are equipped with stoves and cots. Separate tents are used for dining, sleeping, with one set up with a shower. The camps are located in mountain valleys at elevations between 2,500 to 3,000 feet. All camps have cooks who prepare good home style meals while offering quality service in a rustic setting.  Electricity is supplied by generators and all camps have radios.

Hunting Methods

Traditional spot and stalk hunting techniques are used for Okhotsk Snow Sheep hunting.  Each hunter will have two guides during their hunt.

Hunting is conducted on foot. A great deal of walking and climbing is required, thus your physical condition will be a factor.  Spike tent camps are normally used to access remote areas and allow you to cover more area during your hunt. Long range shooting between 350-450 yards is common.
