Kyrgyzstan is a destination for big game hunters seeking the Mid-Asian Ibex,
which are the largest species of Ibex in the world. The horns of the
Mid-Asian Ibex will measure as much as 60 inches in length.
At
10,000 feet, this hunt, which is done on horseback, offers an unforgettable
experience and the views of this beautiful region will be some you will long
remember after you return from your hunt.
ProfiHunt has their own Ibex hunting area and camp along the Chinese border
in the southern part of Kyrgyzstan and their success has been 100%.
This hunt can be combined with Wolf, Chukar Partridge and Siberian Roe Deer.
Getting to the Hunting Area
You will fly to Bishkek via Istanbul, London, or Moscow. An English
Speaking ProfiHunt Representative will meet you at the airport and assist
you through customs. Upon arrival, you will travel on to the hunting area
via car. Travel time to the Hunting area will vary between 10 to 12 hours,
depending on the camp you will be using.
Hunting Camps
The Camps are typically at elevations of 8,500 feet. Camps are traditional
Asian yurts and wooden structures with electrical generators. They are warm,
clean, and comfortable with separate areas for dining, bathing and
sleeping. You will find good food and quality service in every camp.
Each is also equipped with a satellite phone or radio station, plus medical
first aid kits.
Hunting Methods
Most hunting in Kyrgyztan is done on horseback, with some
done using a jeep,
due to the amount of country that must be covered to hunt the animals
successfully. Expect extensive horseback riding of 8 to 10 hours a day
coupled with considerable walking. Experience with horses and ridding is
plus. During the day you will travel the upper edges of the mountains,
glassing the hillsides and feeding areas. Numerous Ibex will normally be
seen during each day. A temporary tented camp can be set up with the
specific goal of hunting a particular animal or area. Rams are generally
located in remote areas at elevations of approximately 9,000 feet. Once a
trophy is spotted you complete your stalk on foot. Physical condition is an
important factor in the stalking part of the hunt. Long range shooting, up
to 500 yards is normal.
