Eurasian Brown Bear
The Eurasian
Brown Bear (Ursus arctos arctos), with it’s larger skull and darker claws
that have more of a curvature to them, is normally larger in size than the
Mideastern Brown Bear however on average smaller than Kamchatka Bears. An
average Eurasian Brown Bear will weigh between 300 to 350 pounds with an
occasional male comparable to a Kamchatka Bears at about 700 to 800 pounds.
Usually one or two of this size are taken every year.
ProfitHunt
organizes these hunts in the fall and their hunters have enjoyed very
successful Eurasian Brown Bear hunts. The hunt takes place is in the Kirov
region of Russia located 700 miles northeast of Moscow. This region has a
controlled hunting quota of 350 animals so bears taken are of good quality
and size.
This hunt can be
combined with Wolf and European Moose.
Getting to the Hunting Area
You will fly
into Moscow and upon arrival you will be met by ProfiHunt’s representative
who will assist you in the customs formalities. You then have the option of
spending the day/evening in Moscow followed by your travels to Kirov by
train either during the day or on an evening run. This train ride will be
on Trans-Siberian railway, which is the longest railway in the world.
Thousands of tourists annually travel to Russia to ride this train, since it
offers such a unique experience.
Hunting Camps
Accommodations
vary from hunting houses with single bedrooms to private hotels. All are
clean, warm, and you will experience good home style food and quality
service. You may wish to stay at one of the local tourist based areas, and
this can be accommodated, however know that the travel time to the hunting
areas will take more time.
Hunting Methods
Eurasian Brown
Bear hunting is not physically demanding.
Bears are
successfully hunted by baiting and / or stalking when the bears venture on
to the oat fields in mid August. The activity of Bear is dependent on local
crops of wild berries and nuts, however ProfiHunters have enjoyed a 90%
success rate on this hunt.
