Caucasian Chamois
The Caucasian
Chamois are found in the Caucasian Mountains. Caucasian Chamois have
relatively short yet stout horns with the average trophy size between 7 and
8 inches. ProfiHunt Hunters have been experiencing close to 100% success
when pursuing this trophy.
Note that the
Caucasian Chamois counts toward both the Ovis and Capra World Slams.
This hunt can
also be combined with European Roe Deer, Wild Boar, Mid-Eastern Brown Bear,
and a Kuban Tur.
Getting to the Hunting Area
You will fly
into Moscow and upon arrival you will be met by ProfiHunt’s representative
who will assist you in the customs formalities. You’ll then most likely
spend the evening in a hotel in Moscow. In the morning you will fly to
Mineralnyye Vody and then transfer via car to Karachaevsk, complete the Visa
Registration process, and stay in a Hotel. The next morning you will
transfer via car to the hunting area.
Hunting Camps
Accommodations
are in tented camps at an elevation of 5,100 feet. The tents are large in
size and you will sleep on cots. Showers are available. You will
experience good home style food and quality service with electricity being
provided by an electric generator.
Hunting Methods
During the day
you will travel the upper edges of the mountains while glassing the
hillsides and feeding areas. You’ll travel by jeep or on horseback, coupled
with considerable walking and hiking. Some knowledge and experience with
horses and riding is definitely a plus.
Hunters can
expect to glass from a good observation point for several hours, and then
move to another area until you find your trophy. Animals normally are
found in mountainous areas and open spots by tree line and brush at
elevations between 7,500 and 8,000 feet. Spotting and stalking this trophy
can be challenging and your physical condition is a factor.
