Capercaillie and Black-Cock Bird Hunting
Capercaillie is
one of the oldest birds on the Earth. It is large forest partridge. This
bird has all but disappeared in most European countries, however are still
plentiful in Russia.
Traditionally
Capercaillie hunting is done in the spring and ProfitHunt has continued with

This hunt can be
combined with Wolf, European Moose, and Eurasian Brown Bear.
Getting to the Hunting Area
You will fly
into Moscow and upon arrival you will be met by a ProfiHunt representative
who will assist you in the customs formalities. You then have the option of
spending the day/evening in Moscow followed by your travels to Kirov by
train either during the day or on an evening run. This train ride will be
on Trans-Siberian railway, which is the longest railway in the world.
Thousands of tourists annually travel to Russia to ride this train, since it
offers such a unique experience.
Hunting Camps
During the hunt
you will stay in wooden hunting houses or cabins based on double occupancy.
All are clean, warm, and you will experience good home style food and
quality service. Each camp can accommodate up to five hunters, and
ProfitHunt can set up a hunt for as many as 40 hunters should you organize a
large group outing, which can make for a great experience.
Hunting Methods
You stalk
Capercaillie almost in darkness, very early in the morning . In the still
of the morning you feel that even slight sounds will frighten the birds
away. Shot gun is recommended for Capercaillie.
Black-Cocks are
hunted from a special branch ground blind. Most hunters will use a small
caliber rifle to purse Black-Cocks, such as a 222.
