Brown Bear
The Amur Brown
Bear (Ursus arctos lasiotus) is also known as the Black Grizzly due to the
black tone that it’s fur has. The Amur Brown Bear will average in size
between eight and eight and a half feet with an occasional ten foot bear
taken. Basis the numbers of bears coupled with the areas they are hunted
in, there is a very high success rate when you pursue this trophy.
In Russia these
bears are found in the Amur River region and on Sakhalin Island.
The Mid-Eastern
Brown Bear is hunted in the Caucasian Region of Russia. This Region can
only be described as “the most scenic country in the world” and will offer
you an experience you will not forget.
Getting to the Hunting Area
You will fly
into Moscow and upon arrival you will be met by ProfiHunt’s representative
who will assist you in the customs formalities. You then spend most likely
spend the evening in a hotel in Moscow. In the morning you will fly to
Khabarovsk, and then transfer to camp by car and or boat.
Hunting Camps
Accommodations
vary from hunting houses equipped with stoves, beds, and outdoor showers.
All are clean, warm, and you will experience good home style food and
quality service. One interpreter per camp is provided during the entire
hunt.
Hunting Methods
During the
spring season, the bears typically congregate in areas where the first green
grass shoots appear. They are hunted using spot and stalk techniques, and
can also be hunted by using bait. Considerable walking is necessary.
Fall hunts are
done on foot and may also use a boat. Traditional spot and stalk methods
are used; while observing active salmon streams, berry patches and natural
feeding areas. Depending on conditions, you may be taken for a few days to a
temporary cabin with the specific goal of hunting a particular animal or
area.
