Altai Argali

The Altai Argali is a magnificent sheep and is a trophy you will long admire.  The Altai Argaili makes it’s home in the Altai Mountains of western Mongolia, Russia and Kazakhstan. Mongolia is only the country where the hunting for the Altai Argali is legally possible.

The Mongolian mountain desert steppe offers ideal habitat for the Altai Argali and Ibex.  Basis the emphasis placed on this trophy by hunters, this hunt is one of the most popular destinations for mountain hunters and you can expect a well organized hunt.

The average trophy size of the Altai Argali is between 50 to 52 inches, with a number of trophies taken in excess of 55 to 58 inches.

One comment with regards to pursing this trophy needs to be made: the number and quality of sheep on the mountain has diminished over the last several years due to large numbers of domestic livestock which are raised in the same area. Basis a growing population base of 2.8 million people, Mongolia now has herds of domestic animals estimated at 29 million which compete for food in the areas that Altai Argali inhabit.
